Author's Page - about Julie

Julie Stephens is an award winning photographer and an award winning writer with her newspaper column in the Lake City Silver World: Life From My View. She writes about the delights and challenges of living in one of the most remote areas in the United States; living at 9,000 feet above sea level. Her husband first brought her to this little mountain village on their honeymoon in the summer of 1977. They have a grown son and daughter.

Julie has a master’s in education and has taught just about every age level from preschool to graduate school. She also has a BFA in theater and has performed in community theater as well as in a television advertisement. The author writes mainly about her life: staying more happily married than not for over 4 decades, the roller coaster ride of parenting and educating their son and daughter, living a healthy lifestyle, the important connection with their canine companions, and more.

Julie spends the majority of her unscheduled days: reading, writing and walking with her camera in hand. Julie’s books are available on her website: https://julie-stephens.com/

From the Introduction of Mountain Devotional by the Rev. Dr. Ed Nettleton

The San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado are among the least known and least visited of the Colorado Rockies, yet they are thought by many, especially those who live here, to be the most beautiful and serene. It is against this backdrop that Candy Beebe and Julie Stephens present Mountain Devotional.

Reflections In The San Juan Mountains

I don't think it's an overstatement to say that anyone who knows Julie is better for it. She lifts up everyone.  For much of her life she did this just by being herself.  Now she has taken some of the inspiration she finds around her, in nature and in everyday activities and submitted that to paper.  As a result, we will all be enriched again by her presence.
